Abstract
- The article focuses on the condolence letters for ophthalmologist Jacobus "Chick" tenBroek, founder of the National Federation of the Blind who died on March 27, 1968. It says that a letter by his colleague Everett Wilcox of California School for the Blind shows tenBroek's unconventionality. Moreover, in another letter, one of his students explains how he "experienced" tenBroek without being merely encountering him. The article also mentions the letters from his friends and fellow blind people.
