Abstract

The article discusses the Cynefin framework, a type of sensemaking approach to develop invasion or post-invasion strategies, and its potential to guide decision markers at the U.S. Homeland Security. It defines sensemaking and its uses at the Department of Defense. A look at the Cynefin framework and its use in knowledge management is given. The five domains of the Cynefin framework are cited. An overview of the graduate curriculum in Homeland Security at the Naval Postgraduate School is given.
