Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the temporal associations between the severity of foot lesions caused by footrot (FR) and the severity of lameness in sheep. Several effects of lameness include significant production losses and increased ewe and lamb mortality. Some factors that contribute to the spread and severity of FR include the strain of Dichelobacter nodosus and the environment. The findings of the study suggested that mildly lame and non-lame sheep have FR lesions and higher incidence of FR may result from delaying treatment.
