The paper discusses information and knowledge as the primary factors conditioning the efficiency of decision taking processes. Business Intelligence systems and Expert Systems are characterized as the tools supporting management and being a flexible solution in business. Advantages connected with the implementation and effective usage of the discussed applications are enumerated.
