Abstract

The article assesses the connection of using fish bait to the vulnerability of American lobsters to the epizotic shell disease (ESD), where the lobsters infected by the disease have increased within the New England area of the U.S. Lobsters were randomly classified in 3 groups of 16 and are fed with various food including mussels, herring, and crabs. Results reveal that 175 lobsters that were fed with the fish bait have different levels of ESD, yet do not experience worsened effects of the disease.
