African American Women and Smoking: Spiritual Well-Being Makes a Difference.

The article discusses results of a study that examined the association of smoking in African American (AA) women with spiritual well-being (SWB), perceived stress and coping. The health effects of smoking are discussed, with emphasis on AA women. Some reasons why AA women find it difficult to quit smoking include the lack of access to culturally appropriate help with smoking cessation.
