Abstract

The article discusses the impacts of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conservation practices which influence playas and surrounding catchments to ecosystem functions and related services provided by wetlands in the High Plains. It examines implications of agricultural cultivation and effectiveness of USDA conservation programs on ecosystem functions and related services of playas. It considers the critical role of playas in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts.
