Abstract

The article looks at efforts of winegrowers in New Zealand to eliminate the virus Leafroll 3 to prevent damaging vines and the quality of wine. Some of the damaging effects of Leafroll 3 on the vineyard performance are cited, including decline in vine health, reduced yields and delayed ripening. The New Zealand Winegrowers (NZW) has funded various research projects to study the Leafroll 3, GLRaV-3. An overview of the project to develop a decision tree model to help vineyards choose between numerous courses of action is given.
