Abstract
- The article discusses a study which determined the influence of the feeding program and of ghrelin injection in Awassi male lambs on the density of the ghrelin immunopositive cells in the abomasum and on the circulating ghrelin concentrations. The study found that plasma ghrelin concentrations remained stable before and after feeding and no significant difference in the parameter was shown between groups, although they were lowered in lambs fed ad libitum. Results of the study showed that glandular cells from the abomasum expressed ghrelin, and that the pattern of the peptide secretion was not closely related to the ghrelin injection in lambs.
