Abstract
- This article discusses a Romance triptych that originated in the Castilian province of Spain and which relates to criminal justice during the period of Emperor Charlemagne's reign during the 8th and 9th centuries in Europe. It examines the process of justice administration by Charlemagne against his son for crimes he committed, as well as the attempts by other high ranking officials to pardon him. The author studies the political aspects of the romance, including evidence of the development of a feudal system. Portions of the text of the romance are also provided and analyzed.
