Abstract

The article focuses on the reasons on why new states accept old commercial obligations upon state successions, basing in the succession of Kosovo and Iraq. It discusses the usage of policy-oriented approach in dealing with state succession and commercial obligations. It provides comparison between state and government succession involving the human rights. It notes that jurists are required to create alternatives for territorial autonomy and renounce sovereignty for economic assistance.
