Abstract

The article offers gardening tips for the best fragrant roses to plant in different areas of the U.S. For the Pacific Northwest, the article suggests the Scabros, a cultivar of the rugosa that grows ten feet with single, bright magenta flowers with a thick wad of golden stamens. Rosa "Julia Child" is said to be appropriate for planting in the Midwest, growing to about three feet and bearing yellow flowers with a sweet licorice scent. The Rosa "Tuscany Superb" reportedly thrives well in the Northeast, with big, luscious crimson, velvet flowers with a brilliant golden center.
