Abstract
- Henry Austin Dobson (1840–1921), Poet and essayist, born at Plymouth, Devon, and educated at Beaumaris Grammar School and at Strasbourg. He entered the Board of Trade, where he served from 1856 to 1901, with Edmund Gosse as close friend and colleague. He was an accomplished writer of light verse, with a particular fondness for French forms such as the triolet and the rondeau. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
