Abstract
- The article discusses the efforts of Italian aristocrat Paolo Francesco Spinola, member of the noble Spinola family of Genoa, Italy, in renovating the Spinola palace in Pellicceria, Italy. The author is more broadly concerned with the Genovese aristocracy's taste concerning furnishings. Such palace decorations are analyzed as pieces of Genovese aristocratic material culture. The author describes the stipulations surrounding Spinola's patrimonial inheritance of the palace, its contents, and its surrounding property.
