Abstract

The article discusses a study on the association between a significant variation in C-section rate and macrosomia incidence and the elective induction of labour at 38 weeks compared to expectant management in A1 and A2 gestational diabetes (GDM) pregnancies with fetal growth acceleration. Women diagnosed with GDM and fetal growth acceleration at 38 weeks of gestation were included in the study. It aims to verify whether induction of labour as against expectant management can determine a difference in the odds of C-section in women with GDM and fetal growth acceleration. It indicates a positive trend in terms of C-section rate and neonatal outcomes in women undertaking induction particularly if obese.
