Abstract
- The article discusses a report on the isolation and preliminary identification of a reptile-associated Porphyromonas variant that represents a new species and describes a Porphyromonas-associated clinical infections in reptiles. The patients included an 8-year-old female bearded dragon, an adult, female central bearded dragon and an approximately 8-year old male central bearded dragon. It indicates that the unique Porphyromonas sp. is a significant, opportunistic bacterial pathogen in necrosuppurative diseases of central bearded dragons.
