The article presents a profile of Czech archbishop František Kordač, professor of Christian philosophy in the theological faculty of Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and the 26th archbishop of Prague. Kordač is described as an uncompromising and inflexible ascetic and scholar who was taken up with the social problems resulting from industrialization. His political work in unifying the Catholic political parties in the years prior to World War I is reviewed. A summary of his education and career as a professor and as a politically involved clergyman is provided.
