Abstract
- The article presents a study on use of glycated haemoglobin to detect undiagnosed diabetes as part of an automated screening test in hospitalized patients in Australia. The researchers recruited a subset of patients for a postdischarge oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). They found that the prevalences of known and undiagnosed diabetes were almost three times higher than in the Australian community. They also discussed the need for the early screening and intervention of diabetes.
