Research on the Integration of Computer Animation into the Teaching Design of Mathematics at Primary School.

Abstract

Background: Multimedia animation technology has become more widely used. In addition to produce cartoon animations; movies or TV, many traditional teaching methods can also be improved by multimedia animation. Aim: This study mainly compared the difference in terms of the students' academic achievement and learning motivation between "Traditional Teaching" and "Multimedia Animation Teaching". The result can help to improve teaching methods of teachers and academic achievement of students. Method: Questionnaires, observations and field experiments were used in this study. The class with multimedia animation teaching method was the experimental while the class with tradition teaching was the control. The differences between two groups were analyzed. Sample: The sample included two classes primary one students. Both the experimental and control groups included 22 students. The experimental group included 13 boys and 9 girls while the control group included 11 boys and 11 girls. Results: By comparing the results pre-test and post-test, the overall learning achievements of experimental and control groups were improved. However, there was no significance difference between experimental and control groups. Conclusion: Based on the results from the questionnaires, the experimental group had higher learning motivation. That means after used multimedia animation as teaching activity, the students have shown more enthusiastic in learning mathematics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
