Abstract

The article discusses the top reasons for contact lens wear discontinuation and suggests ways for successfully addressing them. The number one reason for contact lens wear dropout is contact lens-related dryness and its associated discomfort. Another is discomfort, which prompts patients to undergo refractive surgery. The poor state of the U.S. economy also dissuades patients to continue wearing contact lens. Dry eye testing and emphasizing the benefits of savings of contact lenses are recommended.
