Abstract
- The article describes the condition of demodicosis or demodectic mange among dogs. The disease is caused by demodex mites and is linked to genetics. These mites refer to those found on the hair follicles of domestic mammals and humans, and the most predominant one on dogs is Demodex canis. Meanwhile, generalized demodicosis is evident when the dog has many spots or large areas of hair loss, and it is common in the Afghan Hound, Airedale Terrier, and Alaskan Malamute. It is noted that dogs with demodicosis can self-cure.
