Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined the incremental value of adding clinical data in predicting outcomes after heart failure hospitalization. The performance of claims-only and claims-clinical regression models for 30-day mortality and readmission was evaluated. Results showed that the claims-clinical mortality model had better fit than the claims-only mortality model. It concluded that prediction of mortality is improved with the additional of clinical data to claims data for hospitalizations.
