Abstract
- The article discusses how the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) of San Diego County, California deploys TourSolver for MapPoint software and TomTom Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) units. HCD caseworkers use GPS routing in inspecting 14,000 units of Section 8 low-income housing, the largest rental subsidy program in the U.S. The article also reveals that the system saves 20 hours monthly of housing supervisors time which translates into better customer service and savings in county money, gas and time.
