SMART HIGHWAYS.

The article discusses the smart highway project of the Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT). The project implements active traffic management (ATM) technology to improve efficiency on roadways, reduce congestion and minimize collisions. Washington Governor Chris Gregoire opened the Smarter Highways system on Interstate 5 in Seattle, Washington in August 2010.
