Abstract

The article describes the case of a 4-year-9-month-old boy who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and Addison's disease with adrenal crisis. The increased risk of other autoimmune disorders is cited with emphasis on autoimmune polyendocrinopathy type 2 (APS-2), which more often affects female adults. A medical history of the boy is given including medical interventions such as the replacement of hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone. A 21-hydroxylase autoantibody (21OHAb) test after one year treatment was said to be negative.
