LA PARTICIPACIÓN DE LOS OBISPOS DEL PERÚ EN LA CODIFICACIÓN DEL DERECHO CANÓNICO DE 1917: LOS "POSTULATA EPISCOPORUM.".

The article presents a history and analysis of the initial drafts of Canon Law in the Catholic church, under Pope Saint Pius X. The author analyzes sources from the Vatican Secret Archives to discover the work of religious leaders and experts in the codification, with specific attention to the role of Peruvian bishops in requesting the creation of the law in 1904 as well as in serving as consultants to the experts during the process in 1917. A transcript of a letter written in 1904 by the Archbishop of Lima, Manuel Tovar y Chamorro, to the secretary of the codification committee, Pedro Gasparri, is presented.
