Abstract
- The article presents an analysis concerning the use of cocaine among individuals detained by police and interviewed for the Australian Institute of Criminology's (AIC) Drug Use Monitoring in Australia (DUMA) program. The analysis shows that the use of cocaine does not only occur in DUMA's sites in Sydney, New South Wales, but also in other areas. It shows that cocaine users are predominately multiple-drug users and are more likely to have had prior contact with the criminal justice system than non-cocaine users. Other information also include where does cocaine come from and how does it appear in the country, the number of people using the drug, and the characteristics of cocaine users.
