Abstract

The article reports on a trend among non-union construction firms in the U.S. in which they are seeking market share related to taxpayer-funded jobs. It mentions that residential and light industrial construction work for such non-union firms have remained flat while some publicly-funded projects are sustained by federal stimulus funds as well as state and local spending. It adds that employer group Associated Builders and Contractors has received approval for its 50-state strategy to prohibit Project Labor Agreements (PLAs).
