Abstract

This article discusses a study on the development, optimization and validation of a real-time TaqMan assay for abalone herpes-like virus (AbHV). The study used AbHV-infected wild blacklip abalone Haliotis rubra from coastal waters in Victoria. The assay detected DNA from the Taiwanese abalone herpes-like virus. The detection suggests a relationship between the Taiwanese and Australian viruses. The assay also detected copies of recombinant plasmid DNA per reaction. The study also revealed the highest diagnostic sensitivity and specificity.
