Abstract

The article focuses on a study which examined the association of the spatio-temporal variation of the pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus (F.) paulensis to the seasonal overture of the sandbar in the Ibiraquera Lagoon in Brazil. The shrimps that were used for the sampling were collected monthly from February 2004 to February 2005 from 6 to 10 pm. It was found that F. paulensis was the most abundant shrimp species in the lagoon. Study findings indicated that throughout the year there was a predominance of subadult stages as in other southern Brazilian coastal lagoons and Conceição.
