Abstract

The article details a study which compared the benefits and efficacy of nitinol superficial femoral artery stenting and balloon angioplasty. The study included 206 patients from 24 centers in the U.S. and Europe who were randomized to receive either implantation of nitinol stents or percutaneous transluminal angioplasty. Study authors found that primary implantation with self-expanding nitinol stent leads to better acute angiographic outcomes.
