Abstract

In this paper, we apply Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to examine the performance of primary care clinics (PCCs) within an integrated hospital system. We argue that DEA is a useful non-parametric technique to identify the sources of performance change. The findings provide suggestions on how specific input and output factors can be improved for comparable PCCs. While our research design is not bounded by a priori theories, DEA findings can provide a useful basis for theoretical discussions on organizational performance. Thus, the methodology may be used in other organizational settings. We discuss directions for further studies in the conclusion. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
