Abstract

The article focuses on chlamydia, the most commonly known bacterial sexually transmitted infection. Complications of untreated chlamydia infection include pelvic inflammatory disease that could lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancy, sexually acquired reactive arthritis and epididymo-orchitis. The British Association for Sexual Health and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has produced guidelines on the management of chlamydia. Part of chlamydia management is the identification and treatment of sexual contacts.
