Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy are seeking to enhance coordination in flight safety and air control procedures following the release of investigations by the two services and the Marine Corps into the Marine AH-1W Super Cobra and Coast Guard HC-130H aircraft collision on October 29, 2009. The investigations found weaknesses in coordination between the two services in terms of search-and-rescue mission in San Diego, California. It is said that the collision could have been avoided if HC-130H pilots had used night-vision goggles.
