Abstract
- The article reports on the call for tougher physical training (PT) standards by Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Michael Leavitt. He is also calling on deck-plate leaders to motivate U.S. Coast Guardsmen who are not physically fit. Leavitt adds that he was developing a mechanism for the service that would measure fitness better than existing weight requirements. Leavitt also agrees with Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Robert Papp's view that the service should not adopt mandatory physical fitness.
