Abstract

The article discusses the study which compares the effects of nitrogen fertilization on the degree of nitrous oxide emissions from irrigated no-till corn crops. It implies that application of nitrogen fertilizers can help optimize crop yields, however, it also increases nitrous oxide emissions. The study indicates that enhanced-efficiency fertilizers with nitrogen can significantly reduce nitrous oxide emissions compared with emissions from urea and urea ammonium nitrate during cropping season without affecting yields from irrigated corn farms.
