Abstract

The article discusses research on how genetic risk variants are associated with the expression of proximal genes and the identification of novel susceptibility genes for cardiovascular disease. Investigated was the association of 166 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with higher cardiovascular risk and their gene expressions were measured through expression arrays. Conclusions showed risk-SNPs are associated with genes adjacent to them while there are associated genes that are potential candidates for the gene disease but are not adjacent to them.
