Abstract

In this survey, I untangle the concept of sexual consent and show the parameters of the current debate, the broad positions and their arguments that currently obtain, the complexities of thinking about sexual consent and the sort of agendas that will move the debates around sexual consent further. It will become clear that this will inevitably involve a broader sense in which sex and sexuality are subjected to ethical thinking beyond consent, and the contextualisation of consent within the community of concepts that are used to inform our sexual ethics. Consent is an incredibly important concept, if only to stem the prevalence of non-consenting sex, but it is only part of the broader ethical picture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
