Abstract

The article discusses the challenges facing the wholesale food market Hunts Point Terminal Market in the South Bronx, New York City. The 112-acre area is surrounded by a metal fence and the 1960s era-buildings give it a look of prison camp, which is a 2 billion dollars center of commerce. It supplies 60 percent of the city's fruit and vegetable needs. The redevelopment of the center is under discussion and merchants are opposing the new rules imposed by city's Business Integrity Commission.
