Abstract

The article presents a study which aimed to test the hypothesis that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-B exerts non-angiogenesis-related cardioprotective effects in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. The study revealed that exogenous VEGF-B<subscript>167</subscript> exerted a compensatory receptor stimulation in paced dogs. The researchers found a cardioprotective effect of VEGF-B<subscript>167</subscript> in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy.
