Abstract
- The article provides proof that the subdivision into canonical and noncanonical Wnt signaling pathways solely based on the identity of Wnt ligands or Frizzled receptors is no longer appropriate. Wnt proteins refers to secreted glycoproteins acting as signaling molecules. Wnt proteins have several functions including regulation of gene expression, cell cycle and proliferation, and cell migration. A discussion of the nuclear components of β-catenin signaling is provided.
