Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the effect of dietary fatty acids on cardiac gene expression and examines the functional consequences. The researchers used GW501516 from Alexis, Wy14643 from Eagle Picher Technologies laboratories and Trilinolein from Larodan Free Chemicals. A single oral gavage of synthetic triglycerides (TGs) were given to SV129 mice. It was found that stimulation of cardiac Angt14 gene expression by dietary fatty acids protects the heart against lipid overload.
