Abstract
- An essay is presented on the book "Goodbye, Columbus." It explores the characteristics which made the author loves the book and the aspects which attributed to the end of his love affair with the book. It discusses the author's decision to oust writer Philip Roth for the 1960 National Book Award nominations and include the books "Brown Girl, Brownstones" and "To Sir, With Love" in the U.S. It mentions how writers James Baldwin and Ralph Ellison have influenced Roth in writing his book.
