Statins in the Treatment of Heart Failure.

The authors comment on the Controlled Rosusvastatin Multinational Trial in Heart Failure (CORONA) and the Gruppo Italiano per lo Studio della Sopravvenza nell'Infarto Miocardico Heart Failure (GISSI-HF) trials. The trials reportedly showed that statins failed to reveal a beneficial effect for patients with chronic heart failure. According to the authors, a much more straightforward, randomized trial is recommended to finally determine if statins should or should not be used for patients with CHF.
