Abstract
- The article discusses the report "The Condition of Education 2010" by the U.S. Education Department's (ED) National Center for Education Statistics, which found that the number of schools serving high-poverty populations has increased by five percentage points since the year 2000. It is suggested that the report findings could identify where ED could invest funds. The percentage of high-poverty secondary schools that were classified as alternative and special education schools is discussed.
