Abstract
- Chapter 7 of the book "Going Coed: Women's Experiences in Formerly Men's Colleges & Universities 1950-2000," edited by Leslie Miller-Bernal and Susan L. Poulson, is presented. It discusses how the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia gradually adopted coeducation and admitted women into its student body. It also explores why Virginia has not immediately embraced coeducation and became the last state in the U.S. that accepted women with due respect to tradition.
