Abstract
- The article focuses on mail art archives which are composed of personal correspondence, artists' books and catalogs of mail art shows, among others. The contemporary artists functioned as curators, critics and archivists for themselves for mail art used to be disregarded by mainstream art publishers and institutions. With the increasing innovation in mail art shows, recognition for mail art improved throughout the 1970s. Several notable archivists like Guy Bleus of Belgium and Julia Galantai of Budapest, Hungary are acknowledged.
