Headlines, Heartlines, Hardlines: Advocacy Criticism as Activism.

The article examines the role of advocate critics in raising public consciousness on the significance of art in social life. The concept of advocacy criticism can be compared to activist art in its use of a communal base among artists for criticizing existing structures or creating an argument for a value system. Also discussed is the establishment of the Political Art Documentation/Distribution (PADD) in 1979 which engaged artists to incorporate social action with making art.
