Abstract
- The article focuses on a study which examined context-dependent associations between variation in risk of ischemic heart disease (IHD) and variation in the 5' promoter region of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene among Danish women. The use of a Patient Rule-Induction Method identified elderly women with hypertriglyceridemia with a history of smoking and hypertension. Genetic information including 5' APOE genotypes has been found valuable in predicting IHD.
