Abstract

The article presents a study that deals with the diet and feeding habits of armado catfish Pterodoras granulosus. Area of study was the Lajeado Reservoir in Tocantins, Brazil and the mouth of its tributaries. Material was gathered from stomach contents of 327 specimens which were analyzed by the percentage composition and volumetric methods. Based on their findings, the authors related the environmental use pattern of P. granulosus with the ontogenetic shift observed in its feeding ecology. They added that terrestrial plants were the diet of large fish.
